Iris received her doctoral degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2010 and holds a license to practice in the state of Washington (#PY60639248).
Iris is an English and Korean-speaking psychologist who works from a psychodynamic framework that emphasizes empowering individuals in their relationship with themselves and their environments through insight-oriented conversations in the therapy space. This includes seeing individuals through a socially-just lens and understanding how varying identities within individuals intersect with their cultural contexts. She is experienced in working with survivors of both complex and acute trauma such as political persecution and conflict, sexual assault, abuse and loss; as well as concerns related to depression, anxiety, grief and mourning, transition and adjustment, interpersonal and relational concerns, issues of self or identity, low self-esteem or self-worth, and acculturation.
Currently, Iris also works as a psychologist at the University of Washington's Counseling Center. She has experience supporting individuals who struggle with life management and wellness issues such as difficulties with concentration and focus, time management, implementation of self-care, assertiveness and communication, and general work/life balance.
